From Excuses to Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahaan, celebrities share their favourite songs this World Music Day

Chitra Vakil Sharma

It’s impossible to name just two songs, I mean for every single mood, I have a list of at least ten songs I could probably listen to. Music is where my heart lies. I am a big Bollywood buff. Music helps me in every way, and I believe that music is a piece of art that goes from the ears straight to the heart. The songs that I am listening to on a loop currently are ‘Baadalon Mein Chup Rayha Hai Chand Kya’ and ‘Raabta‘. Arijit Singh is my absolute favourite singer in the industry, his songs have a soul of their own. Sometimes I am stunned by how impactful music can prove to be.

Rahul Singh

My all-time favourite song is Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas by Kishore Kumaar. I really like to listen to music. Whenever I’m happy or sad I listen to songs. I go for a long drive and listen to Kishore Da and my mood gets better. One of the main reasons that I’m really fond of listening to songs is because my wife is a singer. So listening to music gives me a very homely feeling. Another main reason is my daughter is 3.5 years old, as soon as I reach home, I have to dance with her on the DJ version of Lakdi Ki Kathi.

Ginnie Virdi

Chandaniya Ruk Jana Re is always on my mind and on the top of my list for my daughter. Rest I’m into Hindi folk and English songs as music is beautiful in any language, for me music is soothing and a breather.

Ashoka Thackur

My favourite song is Old Skool by Sidhu Moose Wala and another one is Excuses by AP Dhillon. I can listen to this every day. Mood gets better as soon as I listen to these songs. After listening to music even though I’m stressed my mood gets better.

Charrul Malik

Jab Koi Baat Bigadh Jaaye, Tumko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayal Aaya, and Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You are my favourite numbers. Listening to music gives peace and joy to the mind, listening to music inspires a person to do something better in life. Music is a must for everyone. It allows us to have all possible emotions through the lyrics, tune and rhythm. Music helps to reach to every emotion deeply and pace up or mood whenever we feel low. Music has a power to make anyone emotional, make anyone dance, make anyone sentimental and can break anyone from inside. Whatever music we listen to our mood changes accordingly. Music is something that can encourage any kind of emotion. Without music, life is incomplete. Music is required everywhere, while doing meditation also While we breath in and breath out, I think music is everything and nothing can beat that. Even festivals are incomplete without music.

Sudha Chandran

Two of my favourite songs are Har Ghadi Badal Rahi Hai and second song is Suraj Hua Maddham. These two are always on my top most songs. I think music takes you to a different level. It can pull you out of depression, it can also take you to a very happy note. Music is a most soothing factor in anybody’s life. When I am in a very happy mood, it’s always been an upbeat music. I’m a big fan of O.P Nayyar and Laxmikant Pyarelal and Shankar Jaikishan, so my concept of love for music is from 60’s and 70’s where Kishore Da and Mohammed Rafi ruled the industry. I think that era of music will always stay with me and I will continue to listen whenever I go on my shoot. My FM is connected to the channel which comes up with such old beautiful songs. I get so charged up that I don’t realise if I’m tired or not. Even when I come home, I want to listen to these nostalgic songs. I want to take a long drive from here to Nasik while just listening to Kishore Da and Mohammed Rafi songs.

Aditya Deshmukh

In my family, everyone is influenced by Mohammad Rafi ji. My dad still does shows even after being a commissioner of GST. He follows his passion. He does lots of live shows for Rafi sahab. Two songs which is on my top list is Pehla Nasha and Dil se. There are a lot of songs but these are my favourite. There is something in this that drives me crazy. It takes me to another level and uplifts my mood whether I am tired working or feeling low
