“Stepping into Srishti’s character meant exploring a slightly different space from the strong and outspoken roles I’ve played before”: Gulki Joshi on her role in Sony SAB’s Yaadein

Sony SAB’s upcoming show Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, adapted from the popular Italian series DOC, brings to life an emotionally layered narrative of memory loss, identity and second chances. Premiering on 6th April and airing every Monday to Saturday at 8 PM, the show follows Dr. Dev Mehta (Iqbal Khan), a celebrated doctor navigating life after losing eight years of his memory. As he rebuilds his world, the people around him, including his ex-wife Srishti (Gulki Joshi), find themselves confronting emotions they have long kept guarded.

Srishti plays a key role as the hospital administrator, leading operations with clarity, discipline and composure. She is balanced, practical and emotionally guarded, often choosing restraint over reaction. This calm and mature presence makes her a pillar within the hospital, while also adding depth to her personal journey. For Gulki Joshi, stepping into Srishti’s world meant consciously moving away from the strong and outspoken image she was known for in her previous show Maddam Sir. Unlike her earlier roles, this character demanded stillness and control. Instead of overt expressions, she focused on internalising emotions, using pauses, minimal reactions and subtle body language to bring authenticity to the part.

Speaking about the transition, Gulki Joshi shared, “Stepping into Srishti’s character meant exploring a slightly different space from the strong and outspoken roles I’ve played before. She is someone who carries a lot within but expresses very little, especially as a professional who is constantly making composed decisions. I had to focus on holding back and trusting the quieter moments in a scene. It was challenging at first, as actors are often used to expressing emotions more visibly, but it pushed me to approach performance in a more controlled and nuanced way, which has been extremely fulfilling. I hope audiences connect with her strength and the emotions she carries beneath the surface.”

Tune in to watch Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan starting 6th April, every Monday – Saturday at 8 PM only on Sony SAB
