Sony SAB, one of India’s leading GECs, is all set to captivate audiences with its upcoming medical drama Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, the Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed Italian series DOC, which has been successfully remade across multiple countries. Rooted in the theme of second chances in life, love, and identity, the show traces the extraordinary journey of Dr. Dev (Iqbal Khan), a brilliant doctor who must rebuild his world after losing eight years of his memory in a life-altering accident.
Adding emotional depth to the narrative is talented actor Ekta Kaul, who essays a pivotal role of Srishti, a strong, intelligent lady who is Dr. Dev’s ex-wife. Once a practicing doctor, Srishti stepped away from medicine to raise their children and took over the administrative responsibilities of the hospital where Dr Dev worked. Sharing insights into her preparation, Ekta reveals that the emotional core of her character resonated strongly with her personal journey. The actor took a conscious break from work to spend quality time with her son Ved, an experience that helped her understand the layered emotions her character goes through. That phase of life gave her a sense of peace and fulfilment similar to what she feels when fully immersed in her work which she has now channelled into her performance on the show.
Talking about her personal connect Ekta Kaul shares, “A lot of my inspiration for this character comes from my own life. After completing my work commitments in 2023, I consciously took a step back to spend time with my son, Ved, and to experience life at a slower, more mindful pace. Being at home, managing everyday responsibilities, and simply being present with him gave me a deep sense of peace and fulfilment – very different from, yet just as rewarding as being on set. I carried that emotion with me while portraying Srishti, who is also navigating a new reality and finding meaning in unexpected places. That emotional balance helped me understand the character better and bring honesty and depth to my performance.”
