TV anchor and actor, Charul opens up about her fitness routine, dreams beyond the spotlight, and the realities of the entertainment industry.
1. What is your idea of fitness?
For me, fitness is a state of a positive mind and body. It doesn’t always mean heavy workouts — it also includes maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. Without fitness, even the greatest achievements can feel meaningless.
2. How do you manage to stay fit?
I focus on balancing my diet and commit to working out 4–5 days a week. I don’t eat after 8 PM and prefer light workouts — whether it’s walking, skipping, light weight training, or yoga. I start my day with amla and beetroot juice, followed by a normal breakfast. Lunch is usually the same as everyone else’s, but dinner is the lightest meal of my day.
3. If not an actor or anchor, what would you have been?
I think I would have joined the Indian Army and served the nation. I’m a very disciplined and punctual person, and I deeply respect the values of the armed forces.
4. Do you think it’s difficult to make it in the industry without a godfather?
Yes, I completely agree. It’s extremely tough to make it in the industry without a godfather or mentor. No one entertains you unless you’ve been recommended by a big name. You’re often asked to audition, but you rarely get updates — whether you’re shortlisted, selected, or rejected. But if you have someone backing you, your chances of getting good work definitely increase.
5. The industry is a place of dreams — is it only for the strong-willed and strong-hearted?
Absolutely. Patience and kismat (luck) are key if you want to sustain yourself in this industry. You have to be strong-willed and strong-hearted to get quality work and be recognized.
Jab kaam milta hai toh bahut milta hai… nahi milta toh bilkul bhi nahi milta. You must be prepared for long gaps and challenging times. Our industry is unpredictable — anything can happen, anytime!
Let me sum it up in one line: Unpredictable, erratic, dramatic — yet fantastic!
