Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua opens at the same rating as Teri Meri Doriyaann ended

By Anil Merani: Star Plus must be disappointed with the first week’s ratings of its new 7 pm show Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua. This Akshit Sukhija led effort has opened to just 0.8 TVR, at which the earlier show, Teri Meri Doriyaann had ended.

Teri Meri Dooriyann starring Vijayendra Kumeria and Himanshi Parashar, had opened to 1.2-/1.3 before rising up to 1.6But then the problem with the fan expectations led the show to lose steam.

The alarm bells went off when Teri Meri Dooriyaan dropped below 1 and then the axe finally fell.

But now Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua has opened with the same rating as TMD ended, which isn’t good news for Star Plus, who obviously would have expected a better opening.

Now, with such a low opening, it would be a vast mountain to climb. First, they must claw back to I +, which is nothing to write home about. Ideally, Star would have hoped that Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua would reach TMD’s former glory.

But now they need to keep floating. The next few weeks will tell whether numbers go north or south from here. The makers have no space for the status quo; even a slight dip means all bets should be off.

Star Mandirins must now be ruing their call to end TMD for a new show with many set-up costs. Had they continued TMD, they might have saved some money.

Sadly, the new story is nothing cracking. It is yet another dark-skinned love triangle drama—Akshit and the girls Aditi Tripathi and Urvashi Pardesi have to ace their game to stay in the race.

Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua might still fire; you can never second guess the audience. But yes, the journey is more challenging for the makers who will not have any breathing space. The numbers have to go up warp speed.

Last, we must also factor in the budget between TMD and the new show. If Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua numbers are lower, they will have some breathing space.

Akshit, on his part, says TRP depends on the time slot.” My last Dangal TV show Har Bahu Ki Yahi Kahani Sasumaa Ne Meri Kadar Na Jaaniended at 0.6, so .8 is good enough, and our numbers will rise week by week.”
