By Anil Merani: Talented actor Donal Bisht, who was last seen in the web series “Tu Zakhm Hai,” is broadening her horizons. After working in South Indian films, she is now making her mark in the international market with a Chinese film directed by the renowned filmmaker of “Infernal Affairs” (not to be confused with “Internal Affairs”). In this action thriller, Donal portrays a strong character, though she can’t reveal too much now. “We have completed two filming schedules in Fushan and will soon wrap up shooting. I hope the film will hit theatres in 2026,” she shared.
When asked how the casting came about, she said, “It was destiny. The casting director called me out of the blue and explained the concept. He mentioned that he had been following my work and trying to find the right fit for my character.” Following that, she attended a look test.
Donal recounted, “I had travelled to Uttrakhand for some work I simply took my passport. During the journey, they confirmed my casting and requested my passport details. I provided them, and we left for China via New Delhi.”
She added, “Although the shooting experience was enjoyable, the language barrier posed a challenge. No one spoke English, so they hired an interpreter to communicate. Food was another difficulty for me as a vegetarian; finding suitable options was quite tough.”
Regarding her work in India, Donal expressed her desire to take on lead roles in Hindi films and web series. “I have received a lot of love for ‘Tu Zakhm Hai,’ and fans are demanding more.”
Currently, Donal is not interested in returning to television. I am aiming for other things. Having said that, I will always hold my TV stint in the highest esteem as it has taught me a lot about the acting craft. Donal has previously starred in hit television shows like Ek Deewaana Tha, Roop – Mard Ka Naya Swaroop and Bigg Boss 15
Overall, she is hopeful that her international film will be just the first of many global ventures in her career.
