Dr. Dev gives up his title as a doctor, but remains at the hospital as an aide to the interns in Sony SAB’s Yaadein

Sony SAB’s recently launched show Yaadein continues to strike an emotional chord with viewers through Dr. Dev Mehta’s (Iqbal Khan) deeply moving journey of redemption, resilience and rediscovery. The show follows the life of Dr. Dev Mehta, a once celebrated doctor now navigating the consequences of losing eight years of his memory while trying to reclaim both his purpose and identity. As Dr. Dev struggles to piece together a life he no longer remembers, he is forced to confront painful truths about his fractured relationships, the loss of his son and the man he once was, someone even he no longer recognizes.

In the upcoming episodes, Dr. Dev finds himself at his lowest when the hospital board asks him to step down from his right to practice medicine, declaring him unfit to continue as a doctor due to his memory loss and outdated knowledge. Though Dr. Dev fights passionately to defend his capability, the verdict leaves him shattered, forcing him to confront the painful reality of losing the profession that defines him. However, just when he prepares to walk away from the hospital forever, Srishty Agarwal (Gulki Joshi), Dr. Dev’s ex-wife and the hospital’s administrator, makes an unexpected decision that changes everything, allowing Dr. Dev to stay back, but only as a junior aide to the interns, with no authority to diagnose or treat patients.

Talking about the upcoming track, Iqbal Khan, shares, “This phase is a huge turning point for Dr. Dev because for the first time, he is forced to separate his identity from his profession. Losing the title of being a doctor breaks him, but choosing to stay back in the hospital despite that pain shows how deeply medicine is a part of who he is. What makes this track beautiful is that Dr. Dev begins rebuilding himself not through power or authority, but through humility, patience and heart. I think audiences will really connect with this version of him because it shows that sometimes life gives you a second chance in a form you never expected.”

Tune in to watch Yaadein, every Monday to Saturday at 8 PM, only on Sony SAB
