By Anil Merani: Puja Banerjee of Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev fame is returning to the mythology space with the Mahalaxmi show on the religious app Hari Om, a platform dedicated to spiritual content and religious teachings.
“I play the titular character and am a big devotee of Goddess Laxmi; I fast in her name every Thursday. Interestingly, I also got his offer on the same day. I feel blessed to be essaying her on OTT. I have also done Jag Janani Maa Vaishno Devi.”
She said about the costumes, ” It gets a bit cumbersome to wear all the heavy jewellery, accessories and saris. To add it, we also have to wear a crown, being a goddess, but all this is needed to get into the character’s skin to play her better. Doing a saas-bahu is comparatively more straightforward, added she, for good measure.”
Puja wants the mytho genre to become famous,” As it is the only way the youth can connect to their roots. Today, no one has time to read religious books, so the mobile phone is the best option for connecting Generation Z with our rich heritage. I am proud to be part of the Hari Om family for promoting Sanatan Dharma here. We also discuss religious places (Temples and Peeths) and their significance. “
Puja, who has been there for years doing good work, credits her success to her continued dedication to the craft. I like to work and am glad I keep getting reasonable offers on the back of audience love and acceptance. I want to keep acting till I can.
Pooja has done several TV shows (Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki, Qubool Hai and Dev) and south films.
For now, Puja is not interested in returning to TV,” For I have a baby, and long TV hours will take away from my family responsibilities.”
Puja expresses her fondness for web shows, citing The flexibility they offer compared to the demanding schedules of traditional TV shows. She appreciates the limited shooting periods, which allow for a better work-life balance and prevent burnout, making the work more enjoyable.
Among all her shows, Puja regards Devon Ke Dev-Mahadev as her best outing. “Popular Star Plus show Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna, which made me a household name, is also high on my favourite list. As a TV viewer, I would love to watch Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki” ended she.
