Exclusive: I can’t be Harshad Chopda, nor can he be me- Shehzada Dhami.

By Anil Merani| Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, fourth-generation male lead Shehzada Dhami, loves his character, advocate Armaan Poddar and works hard to bring justice to him.

“The responsibility of taking this cult Star Plus show to a new high does not rest only on my and co-star Samridhii Shukla’s shoulders. It is a team effort, from the writers to the production/ direction teams. These guys are past masters of the trade, so if we sync with them, everything should be OK.”

Shehzada and Samriddhi replaced Harshad Chopda and Pranali Rathod last year after yet another generation leap.

On what makes the show tick, he says, “PositivityYou feel the same vibe the moment you set foot on our set. There is no negativity. A feel-good feeling always makes things click. We all work together as a family,” says Shehzada, who has previously done shows like Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka and Choti Sarrdaarni.

Former Ticktoker Shehzada has a very flexible equation with Samriddhi:” Had it not been so, we could not have given such great content. We work together to get through our scenes, and our direction team also helps. We follow their advice to the T. Our camaraderie is so great that we don’t know how our twelve-hour shifts pass,” says Shehzada, who has also done several Hindi and Punjabi music videos.

Is it a task to get into Harshad’s big shoes?

I never try to supersede him; I only do my best. I can’t be him, and neither can he be me. He has done his bit, and now the baton has passed on to me. The entire team supported him back then, and now they also look after us. “Agreed, he has a much bigger fan base then, but we are also starting to build our network. Fans love us, and we are also trying to return the favour by trying to rise to their expectations.” ended he
