T

I have learnt much from them. I often message sir after watching the episodes praising his work. Once I remember, he was giving an emotional scene in which I was not involved. I just burst out crying on the sideline, for he did it so well.”

Dosti Anokhi traces the unique relationship between a lovesick young girl Purvi( Ishmeet ), who elopes, and a senior citizen Jagannath who feels left out by grown-up kids and grandchildren ( Rajendra Ji). Sushmita acts as the catalyst to mellow her khadoos husband and warms up to Purvi.

Talking about her acting journey, this former investment banker from Delhi says, “I changed four financial sectors jobs not finding satisfaction. In the meantime, I would moonlight with theatre (Danish Hussain’s The Hoshruba Repertory and Rangshila Theatre group). “ added she.

Ismeet goes on, “Just before the lockdown, I decided to enter the entertainment space full time, not wanting to jump jobs anymore. It was tough as lockdown lasted a long, but I did not give up hope and kept auditioning. I did lose out a lot of money following my passion for the corporate sector pays well.”

” Soon, the tide turned, and I started doing TVC. Till now, I have done fourteen ads, including two with Mahendra Singh Dhoni( Dream 11 with Dhoni ).”

“I have also dabbled in the webspace—namely, an upcoming Alt Balaji series/ MX Player series, Cold Messy Lonely as one of the primary characters. My Sony Liv sketch comedy, Chalo Koi Baat Nahi, is already streaming; then there is a popular Amazon Prime franchise to boot as well. “

Since your character elopes from home, what is your take on taking such a drastic step?” To each, his own. No one knows what happens inside houses. As far as Purvi was concerned, her abusive parents left her no choice.”

Luckily Ismeet, who is happily married to comedian Gursimran Khamba, did not encounter any such family issue. “My parents happily agreed to our love marriage.”

Ismeet is happy with the initial response to Dosti Anokhi. . "Whoever has watched has loved our very relatable non-tv type(not loud) story. I hope more people tune in and appriciate our hard work."

Point out that opening week ratings are pretty low, and she says, “Overall Sony GRP are low. Also, I think it is too early to make any such call. I am a firm believer that good work eventually pays off.”
