By Anil Merani| Zaan Khan is enjoying his stint in Star Bharat show; Meri Saas Bhoot Hai. He has entered as the new male lead replacing Vibhav Roy post-leap.
“One of the main reasons for saying yes is that I wanted to do light-hearted stuff after heavy-duty emotional stuff (girl leaving him), e.g. Kyun Utthey Dil Chhod Aaye and Maitree. I wanted to detox and do roles where I could work and laugh together.”
He further says that “the saas-bahu equation exists in every house. Here a new hero enters the life of Gaura (Kajal Chauhan). Let’s see how this plays out in the saas-bahu fun drama. Sushmita Mukherjee plays the dead saas.”
Besides this above show, he had a cameo in the new Sab TV show Vanshaj. “I also played a lead cameo in the Zee TV show Maitree. I enjoyed my stint there. I started the show and had a good screen space for a month with the heroine. I jelled with the cast, i.e. Shrenu Parekh, Namish Taneja and Ananya Kher, who played my mother. They all miss me.”
He has also done meaty roles in ‘Pyar Ho Gaya’ and ‘Naamkarann.
Zaan has picked a lot from his past shows, “From Maitree, I learnt that kind of addiction is wrong, and Kyon Uthey taught me that if you genuinely love someone, they will return.”
He has recently also done a music video Tu Mera opposite Tulsi Kumar.
He is also returning to Bollywood; he began years back with the film Satyagraha. “Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Awfah has just been released. The next film is a vital character role in Bas Karo Annu Aunty.”
