Exclusive| Web actors get easily forgotten—Mohit Malhotra.

By Anil Merani| After impressing everyone with his Bhagya Lakshmi performance, talented actor Mohit Malhotra is looking for fresh projects. “After romantic ( Sasural Genda Phool), drama, and comedy( Chupke Chupke), I hope writers keep coming up with meaty characters to whom I can do justice.”

TV, web, or cinema? “I have already straddled all three forms of entertainment (I have also done Maaya 3 and the film Hacked with Vikram Bhatt), and I am looking for projects that challenge the actor within.”

Mohit adds, “Although TV, the web, and cinema have fused today, people watch tube and cinema content on their handsets. Still, TV continues to be the primary source of entertainment for millions in tier 2–4 towns, for it comes free, and not all folks are still online.”

“Being a TV actor, I am surprised at how much love I get compared with my online friends. Web shows stay in the limelight for a short time and soon get forgotten. On the other hand, TV has a longer retention value and reach. “

Shifting gears to  Bhagya Lakshmi, where his character Vikrant  Kakkar recently exited, ” It was fun; I am forever grateful to  Balaji Telefilms for giving me several shows( Naagin 5,  Bade Ache Lagte  Hain and  Daayan, etc). The team, especially Ekta Kapoor, knows what works with the audience. No wonder she has given a large number of superhit shows.”

“I always knew its limited time frame, which was excellent, for I always wanted to avoid signing up for long-running projects,” ended he.
