Here’s how Rajan Shahi became the trendsetter of Indian television!

He is the one behind some popular and successful shows in the Indian television industry, and he is also referred to as the “King of Relationships” of the small screen because he creates magic on-screen. That’s Rajan Shahi for you, the man behind shows like “Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai”, “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai”, and “Anupamaa”. Believe it or not, these three shows created by Rajan Shahi became a trendsetter on-screen because of their unique storyline, which later many followed.

He started his production house, Director’s Kut Productions, with “Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai” in 2007 and it was completely different from the kind of stories we saw on-screen then. It was a simple show and that was its USP. It had those pure and beautiful emotions and was far away from those loud dramas that we generally saw on TV during that time. The story of two girls suddenly caught the fancy of the nation, and many followed suit after that. The show was topping charts and simplicity became a trendsetter. It even established Rajan Shahi’s production house as the forefront of great creative content.

In 2009 his show “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” went on-air. Though the show boasted of a rich set, it showed those simple and beautiful relationships like marriage, family, and love, without any drama. It was the perfect blend of good writing, beautiful emotions, and power-packed performance, that everyone could relate to.

“Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” started with the love story of Akshara and Naitik and has now been taken forward by Naira and Kartik. The simple joys of life, the festivities, the traditions, are all weaved around these two beautiful love stories in the show. No wonder, the show is still going strong and is one of the longest-running daily soaps in the Indian television industry.

While the whole world was sulking over the negativity brought in by the year 2020, Rajan Shahi created another masterpiece called “Anupamaa”. The show revolved around the story of a middle-aged woman who lost herself while taking care of her family and her needs. The show became a mirror to all those women, working or non-working, who give up everything for their family and expect nothing in return.

The show is currently at top of the TRP charts, for its beautiful and relatable storyline and also for the mighty performances by the cast. It is also the first show Rajan Shahi is co-producing with his mother Deepa Shahi under their banner Shahi Production Pvt Ltd.

With these three shows that created history and a new kind of movement in the Indian television industry, Rajan Shahi should be awarded another title called “The Trendsetter” of the small screen. What do you think?
