Zee TV’s long-running show Kumkum Bhagya is currently under fire from its most loyal viewers — and the reason is loud and clear: a noticeable reduction in screen space for the show’s lead pair, Pranali Rathod and Namik Paul. The dynamic chemistry between Prarthana (Pranali) and Shivansh (Namik) had started drawing renewed attention to the show. But recent episodes have left fans feeling frustrated, betrayed, and vocal.
Ever since Namik Paul’s impactful entry as Shivansh, Kumkum Bhagya saw a new wave of excitement, with fans dubbing the couple “PraShiv” and applauding their emotional depth and sizzling on-screen connection. However, in a sudden twist, the focus of the storyline has shifted to less relevant characters, sidelining the leads — and fans aren’t taking it lightly.
A wave of disappointment has surged on social media, with passionate viewers expressing their anger. One user wrote,
“The last 2 episodes were crap. Writing was crap. If people are watching KKB for Namik and Pranali, then giving them 2 mins while side characters dominate is unacceptable. Do better!”
Another fan added, “Do better with KKB! Two minutes of screen time for the best-looking and most talented leads with the hottest chemistry is nonsense!”
The frustration didn’t stop there. One of the most repeated criticisms pointed to a recent fire sequence involving Smitha — which fans felt should have focused on a powerful PraShiv rescue moment instead of spotlighting lesser characters like Payal.
“Many of us are watching the show only for Namik and Pranali. They’re too good for this storyline, which is currently serving garbage,” another fan vented.
The creators — including Ekta Kapoor, Tanusri Dasgupta, and the Balaji Telefilms team — are now being called upon to take action. While Kumkum Bhagya has seen numerous leads and plot shifts over the years, this outcry is a strong indication that the fans want the spotlight where it belongs — on Prarthana and Shivansh.
Will the makers listen to the audience and course-correct? Will PraShiv get their deserved screen time back? That remains to be seen. But what’s certain is that Kumkum Bhagya viewers have spoken — and they want quality storytelling, not filler drama.
Tune in to Kumkum Bhagya, airing every night at 9 PM on Zee TV, to see how things unfold.
