By Anil Merani: Sana Sultan has recently appeared in “Aashiq Arabpati,” an episode of ALTT’s (formerly ALT Balaji) vertical drama series “Kuttings,” which launched on June 10, 2025. This marks another step in her acting career following her participation in Bigg Boss OTT 3. Sana described the series as a short-form, high-quality vertical drama that is filled with emotions, suspense, and relatable themes. She emphasized that her role showcases a character with both soft and tough sides, highlighting the diverse aspects of a woman’s personality. Sana expressed her enthusiasm for the project, citing ALTT’s credibility and the format’s alignment with the rising popularity of reels and short-form content. Her dedication to her acting career is evident in her choice of diverse roles and her commitment to each project.
However, there is a noticeable lack of social media buzz surrounding “Aashiq Arabpati.” Despite Sana’s significant online presence—between 6.5 and 6.9 million Instagram followers—and her previous features, such as the New York Times Square billboard, there has been minimal discussion on platforms like X or other social media regarding “Aashiq Arabpati” or her role in “Kuttings.” A post on X from @yespunjab on June 10, 2025, highlighted the series but did not spark widespread engagement.
Firstly, ALTT’s vertical drama format, designed for quick consumption similar to reels, is still a niche experiment. While it is innovative, it may not yet draw the same mainstream attention as narrative-driven OTT shows on platforms like Netflix or JioCinema. Secondly, the anthology structure of “Kuttings,” with its standalone episodes, could fragment audience attention, making it more challenging for Sana’s episode to stand out. Thirdly, Sana’s fanbase, primarily built on music videos and influencer content, may not seamlessly transfer to her acting projects. Her time on Bigg Boss OTT 3 gained attention due to the show’s high visibility and drama, but a scripted drama like “Aashiq Arabpati” may not generate the same viral appeal. Additionally, the buzz around larger OTT releases in June 2025 may have overshadowed smaller projects.
It’s essential to evaluate Sana’s acting in “Kuttings” based on its own merits, rather than the volume of social media chatter. The lack of buzz does not reflect her performance but rather the complexities of market dynamics and audience preferences. It is unfair to expect her to generate equal hype across all her projects. Each project has its unique appeal and should be judged accordingly.
