Zee TV is all set to launch its new fiction offering, Lakshmi Niwas on January 12 at 8 PM. The show promises to present a deeply relatable and emotionally resonant story rooted in middle-class values and everyday struggles. At its core, Lakshmi Niwas revolves around a simple yet powerful question: Is it truly possible for a middle-class man to fulfil his dreams after a lifetime of responsibilities?
According to the latest promo, Shriniwas retires after years of dedicated service. His colleagues advise him to enjoy his retirement, use his savings wisely, buy a house, and get his daughters married. While Shriniwas and his wife Lakshmi dream of owning their own home, they soon realise that responsibilities continue to outweigh personal desires.

Post-retirement, Shriniwas faces humiliation not from society, but from within his own family. His sons and daughters-in-law begin treating him with disrespect. In one striking scene, Shriniwas knocks on the bathroom door, only to be scolded by his son, who mocks him for being in a hurry despite being retired. He cruelly remarks that Shriniwas has all the time in the world now. Lakshmi gently asks her husband to ignore the insult.
Elsewhere, Shriniwas’s second son reassures his angry wife that their father’s retirement money will soon help them build a new house. However, the daughter-in-law complains about the cramped living space and expresses frustration over constantly hearing about Shriniwas’s dream house. She goes as far as asking Shriniwas to iron her clothes, further highlighting his loss of dignity.
The humiliation deepens when the house owner questions whether Shriniwas can even build a house at his age. Lakshmi steps in, pays the rent, and asks the owner to leave. A broken Shriniwas later questions Lakshmi if he has become useless after retirement. Despite everything, Lakshmi dreams of marrying off their daughters in a grand manner, and Shriniwas assures her that he will fulfil her wish.
The voice-over poignantly states that Lakshmi Niwas is built on togetherness and trust. The show courageously addresses a sensitive issue—how a man continues to shoulder emotional and financial burdens even after retirement, while his working children fail to respect him.
Lakshmi Niwas explores whether Shriniwas and Lakshmi will be able to overcome family conflicts and realise their dream of owning a home.
Apne sapnon ki kahaani ko poora karne aa rahe hain Lakshmi aur Shriniwas—par kya woh sapne ho paayenge poore?
