International Women’s Day, celebrated every year on March 8, serves as a reminder of the incredible contributions of women across the globe. It’s a day for celebrating achievements, promoting gender equality, and recognizing the strength of women in all spheres of life.
To commemorate this occasion, the leading ladies from popular Star Plus shows—Samriddhi Shukla aka Abhira, Neha Harsora aka Sailee, Vaibhavi Hankare aka Tejaswini, and Sonakshi Batra aka Meghla—share their personal insights on what Women’s Day means to them and how they ought to celebrate it!
Samridhii Shukla, aka Abhira from Star Plus Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, shares, “For me, every day is Women’s Day. As a woman who balances her career and personal life, I cherish the independence that allows me to make my own decisions, pursue my passions, and carve out my own path.
While receiving flowers and gifts is always a kind gesture, what truly matters to me are the meaningful words of appreciation, the recognition of my hard work, and the respect I earn for my strength and resilience. Women’s Day is not confined to a single day—it’s about empowering women, promoting equality, and ensuring that we have the freedom to be unapologetically ourselves, day after day.”
Neha Harsora, aka Sailee from the Star Plus show Udne Ki Aasha, shares, “I always celebrate Women’s Day by spending quality time with my mother and younger sister, Yesha Harsora. We usually go out and enjoy each other’s company.
However, this year, due to my hectic shooting schedule, I’m unsure if it will be possible, but I will certainly try my best to make time and celebrate some special moments with them. My mother, maasi (aunt), and a close friend have been my biggest sources of inspiration and motivation.
They’ve taught me the importance of being independent and managing my finances on my own. I truly believe that women have the power to uplift one another, both in their personal and professional lives. Having your own identity is essential for every woman.”
Vaibhavi Hankare, aka Tejaswini from the Star Plus show Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein, shares, “This year, I want to celebrate Women’s Day by appreciating the incredible women around me—whether it’s my colleagues, friends, or family. I also want to take some time to reflect on my own journey and how far I’ve come.
In the past, I have celebrated by supporting women-led initiatives, having conversations about empowerment, and simply acknowledging the strength and resilience of the women I work with. For me, every day is a celebration of womanhood. My mother has been the biggest inspiration in my life.
Her strength, resilience, and ability to handle life’s challenges with grace have shaped who I am today. Women empowering women is one of the most beautiful and powerful things. Believe in yourself, even when the world makes you doubt your worth. Happy Women’s Day to all the beautiful women!”
Sonakshi Batra, aka Meghla from the Star Plus show Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha, shares, “Women’s Day has always been about the two leading ladies (my mother & my elder sister) in my family for me. The way they have shaped me and my character is something that I will always be thankful for.
On Women’s Day, I make sure to let them know how much their love and support mean to me. I show my appreciation to them either in the form of a small and cute gift or heartfelt conversations. At different stages of my life, there have been various women who have inspired me a lot. While growing up, I was in awe of Priyanka Chopra.
That sort of nudged me in the direction of acting. Then Alia Bhatt came into the picture; the way her journey has unfolded has really been something to admire. The message I want to share with all women would be to dare to dream, but also make sure that you prepare for your dream on a daily basis!”
