The couple, who married in 2011 and share three children, has been the subject of separation speculations on social media. Mahhi chose to speak out during an appearance on The Male Feminist podcast, where she candidly opened up about the pressure of public scrutiny.
Responding to the rumours, Mahhi said, “Even if it is the case, why should I tell you? Are you my uncle? Will you pay my lawyer’s fee?” She questioned why people feel entitled to know personal details about others’ lives and criticized the tendency to sensationalize divorces.
She further highlighted the judgmental comments she receives online, like “Mahhi toh decent hai, Jay aisa hai” or “Jay acha hai, Mahhi hi aisi hai.” Mahhi called out the hypocrisy and lack of awareness among people who comment without knowing the truth, saying, “They just want to blame someone. Do you even know the truth?”
Mahhi also discussed the stigma around single mothers and divorcees, pointing out that society expects drama and negativity if a couple splits. “People assume there’ll be mudslinging. There’s so much pressure from society,” she said. Urging for sensitivity, she added, “Just live and let live.”
While neither Mahhi nor Jay has confirmed a separation, her strong response reflects a call for privacy and empathy. The couple shares three children: foster kids Rajveer and Khushi, and their biological daughter Tara, born in 2019.
Mahhi, known for her roles in Laagi Tujhse Lagan and Balika Vadhu, reminded everyone that celebrities too deserve space and dignity. Her message was clear – stop jumping to conclusions and let people deal with their lives in peace.
