Shivya Pathania darling, give us a mytho break

By Anil Merani: After a promising start, Shivya Pathania has been restricted to the myth genre. She began with  Humsafar ( 2014) Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka( 2016) before finding her mytho calling card with RadhaKrisha in 2017. Since then, she has done many similar genre outings, such as Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush and Baal Shiv – Mahadev Ki Andekhi Gatha. For the moment, she is again playing the lead in  Lakshmi Narayan – Sukh Samarthya Santulan.

TV makers can’t seem to see her beyond Goddesses.

As an artist, would this Pahadan not want to try out other genres?   I agree; on TV, you either have saas-bahu or mythos. Plus, you have to accept that Shivya is a good actor. No wonder she gets back-to-back roles. Many other actors would give an arm and leg to be in her place. Not only is she making good money, but she also has an excellent social media presence.

However, as a stan, I would love to see my fav do other genres as well. I am tired of seeing her playing Goddess and speaking in pristine Hindi.

Is she also not tired of spending hours just getting into those ornate saris and jewellery?

More than TV, I would love to see her do some path-breaking web options. An actress of her calibre needs to cross over, but would she be willing to drop her clothes for the same, as most web content seems to have some sexual connotations?

Will some OTT have the nerve to make a satire on gods? Where Shivya will be a good bet, given her extensive mytho stints.

I know this might be jarring for her aunty audience, but a vast audience does not watch TV, so for them, Shivya will be a whiff of fresh air.

If she rocks OTT, then even Bollywood might not be out of bonds as filmmakers welcome the web rather than TV actors.

Would it not be fun if she either goes dare bare or paints the town red with her beau? She was last supposed to be involved with Kinshuk Vaidya. Such media coverage will help her break out of the mythology rut.

Shivya is 33 and does not have much time, so she should leave her comfort zone now. And for that, she might need to take a break.

But for today’s actors, being out of work is challenging, as you lose out on social media connections, which are like oxygen to them.
