By Anil Merani: The ongoing controversy between two courageous cancer survivors, Hina Khan and Rozlyn Khan, has not only stirred up a significant amount of concern but also deeply impacted the cancer community, including survivors and their caregivers.
The later actor model has openly questioned the severity of TV and film actor Hina’s stage 3 breast cancer. She has also put a question mark on her 15-hour surgery and post-op activities, which Hina did.
Hina, who first came to fame with the Star Plus series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has maintained total silence on all the accusations.
Apart from TV (Bigg Boss 13 and Naagin 5) and music videos, Hina has also acted in web series (Damaged 2) and films. (Hacked and Shinda Shinda No Papa on Chaupal)
Here is my take: I can’t take a position because I dont have access to Hina’s medical records. Ethically and legally, Hina has full right to maintain secrecy regarding her treatment. It’s crucial that we respect her privacy, as only the law can call for her records.
Rozlyn’s (Savita Bhabhi and Crime Alert) statements have created an uneasy feeling when a known celeb like Hina fights the Big C; it gives hope to many cancer survivors they, too, can fight back. Her Instagram posts about trying to lead an everyday life are inspirational.
While we all hope for Hina’s complete remission, we must acknowledge that we do not know her recovery status. She has had a mastectomy and has undergone eight rounds of chemotherapy, and we remain optimistic about her journey.
Stage 4 cancer survivor Rozlyn is doubling down on her accusations and alleging that Hina is doing all this for publicity.
It would benefit Hina’s team to address Rozlyn’s allegations directly. This could help dispel doubts some fans may have about Hina’s credentials.
Some of Hina’s supporters have called fans to ignore troll Rozlyn.
I hold both Hina and Rozlyn in high regard for their public battle against cancer, a feat that requires immense courage.
No one can comment without case papers, but in today’s social media world, celebs in public glare like Caesar’s wife, should be above doubt.
Hina’s silence creates doubts in fans’ minds that she may have something to conceal.
I shudder to think what cancer survivors and their families must be feeling seeing their flag bearers publically squabble with each other rather than trying to lift the spirits of the community.
However, fellow cancer survivor Chhavi Mittal has come out in support of Hina she says
“Being a cancer survivor doesn’t mean you know all cancers. Every cancer journey is different, and every survivor has fought on their level. I don’t know anyone else’s journey or struggles besides my own. All I know of Hina’s journey is that we have the same doctor. He gives me the example of her struggle every time I complain about the side effects of my treatment. My heart goes out to every single cancer survivor. Rozlyn and Hina both deserve respect for whatever they endured.
