Sony TV adapts Wheel of Fortune for Indian audiences, Akshay Kumar to host, Here’s everything you should know about the show!

By Gossips TV : Sony Entertainment Television is gearing up to introduce the Indian adaptation of the globally celebrated game show Wheel of Fortune, with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar stepping in as the host. The move marks Sony TV’s big push into large-format, family-friendly game shows.

The format of Wheel of Fortune is centred on word and phrase puzzles. Contestants spin a giant wheel to determine the value of each correct guess. After the spin, players call out consonants they believe appear in the puzzle. If the letter is present, it gets revealed on the board and the contestant earns money based on the wheel’s value. Vowels can be purchased by spending a portion of the winnings, adding a strategic layer to the gameplay.

The wheel also features surprise segments such as “Bankrupt,” which wipes out a contestant’s earnings for that round, and “Lose a Turn,” increasing the tension and unpredictability. Players can attempt to solve the full puzzle at any point, but a wrong answer passes the turn to the next contestant.

Multiple rounds are played, each offering higher stakes, leading to a final bonus round where the top contestant gets a chance to win a major cash prize or luxury reward with limited clues.

Akshay Kumar’s lively screen presence and quick humour are expected to elevate the format for Indian audiences. With a proven international concept, clear rules, and mass appeal, Sony TV’s Wheel of Fortune aims to become a strong addition to the channel’s non-fiction lineup.
