After ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ premiered at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and received a two-minute standing ovation, the film has now been selected to compete in the prestigious Red Sea Film Festival’s 2024 competition.
Set to take place from December 5 to 14 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the festival will feature ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ as one of the 16 films competing in the Red Sea Competition, celebrating the best in filmmaking from the Arab region, Asia, and Africa.
Expressing his excitement and pride over the film’s recognition, Singh shared, “I’m overjoyed to see the film being acknowledged at such prestigious platforms. First TIFF then BFI London Film Festival and now the Red Sea Film Festival. ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ was an incredibly fulfilling experience for me, and it holds a special place in my heart.
I’m eagerly looking forward to the audiences experiencing it very soon.” Set in Malegaon, Maharashtra, ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ follows the story of Nasir Shaikh, a filmmaker seeking escape through cinema. Directed by Reema Kagti, the film stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Adarsh Gourav and Shashank Arora and is produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Productions.
