Vivian Dsena suffers from a superiority complex.

By Anil Merani: Bigg Boss 18 fan perception regarding Vivian Dsena’s arrogance was further fuelled during the recent media press conference when Vivian repeatedly tried to put down Karanveer Mehra and others. He seemed to have a blase ‘I don’t care’ attitude toward most questions scribes threw at him.

Vivian suffers from a superiority complex. He might be a big name in TV, but his recent TV innings have not been much to write home about.

With the changing habits of the audience, the adulation of TV stars is not what it used to be. The dynamics of fame and popularity in the television industry are shifting, and it’s crucial for stars like Vivian to adapt to these changes.

It would be better if Vivian smelt the coffee and tamped down on his smugness.

He forgot that he was not speaking only to his loyal fans but even to the lay public who might be unaware of him hence, when he spoke deridingly about Rajat Dalal and Arfeen Khan, it did not show him in good stead. Again, Bigg Boss is a personality show where you can showcase yourself in whatever light you deem fit.

Knowing he is the most prominent TV star on Bigg Boss 18, Vivian has repeatedly made snide remarks about upcoming artists like Shehzada Dhami, Digvjay Singh Rathee and Yamini Malhotra. In his success, Vivian also forgets that he was a newbie at one time.

If Vivian were to transition to films in the future, he might find himself receiving the same treatment he’s dished out to others. It’s a sobering thought that could make him reconsider his approach to peer interactions.

I must admit that happily married Vivian has not attempted to play the ‘female card ‘, a term used to describe when a male contestant manipulates or takes advantage of the female contestants. He has kept a distance from all the women. One or two tried to impress him to stay in the rat race, but he told them where to get off.

Interestingly, Vivan has cribbed a lot about being misunderstood 98% of the time. But then, is he responsible for “wrong perceptions ” flying around, for he prefers to stay in his ivory towers? He only gives interviews during the launches of his new shows and then goes on self-praise.

In a way, Vivian is lucky that he did not get co-contestants like Siddharth Shukla and Karan Kundraa during his stint, who would have given back as well as they got. Here, most housemates did not get into major sparring matches with him, aware of the power gradient in the TV pyramid.

Some Vivian fans feel that what might upset Vivian image is that he tries to portray stuff intellectually and straightforwardly, which unfortunately gets viewed as arrogance eg his talk with Shehazada,

Also, one more feather in Vivian’s cap is that he never gets physical with anyone

Some fans also feel that Vivain gave up the ticket to the finale, knowing that he would make it to the final five. This benevolence could be an attempt to please the audience.

On the face of it, it seems Vivian is the firm favourite to win the BB trophy. Only Karanveer Mehra can give him a run for his money.

Will BB retake Vivian to his former TV glory, or, like many BB winners, will he be happy for his 15 minutes of more fame?
