Will Shivangi Joshi quit TV for better OTT pastures?

By Anil Merani: It is good to see TV superstar Shivangi Joshi taking the provable leap of faith and trying her hands at the web series. She will seen along with Harsh Beniwal in Amazon MX Player’s upcoming medical drama Heartbeats.

Heartbeats is not bold content based on the trailer like most OTT offerings, which becomes problematic for small-screen gals who can’t afford to antagonize their core female fan bases.

Heartbeats seems to be a staple med drama fare, tracing the personal and professional journey of medical interns, so I hope the treatment is different.

While this genre has yet to gain significant traction in India, ‘Heartbeats’ starring Shivangi may be the game-changer we’ve been waiting for. It has the potential to kickstart a new trend in the Indian entertainment industry.

It would be interesting to see how Shivangi acts for the web and film differently compared to loud and melodramatic tube stuff, in which Shivangi has excelled so far.

Shivangi started her TV career over a decade ago with Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi.  She has also done Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi and Beintehaa

She found her calling with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai in 2016. She has also taken part in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 12

Heartbeats has allowed Shivangi to go beyond the tried and tested

A lot also depends on how the audience responds to the show; so far, there has been very little publicity by the makers, and the date of the drop is 29 November, as per Shivangi’s Instagram profile

These days, publicity plays a very important role, and makers hope Shivangia’s huge fan following will tune in.’

But a good amount of PR is needed for that, which needs to be added so far.

Shivangi is optimistic about the success of ‘Heartbeats’ and is eager to explore more opportunities in the web and film industry. Her hope is that ‘Heartbeats’ will be the first of many successful ventures in this new career chapter.

If that happens, it means that Shivangi will bid farewell to TV. Though a few of her fans might not like this, it is how the TV to-web cookie crumbles You can’t do both.

If god forbids, Heartbeat quickly stops on the ECG (ratings) meter; then she can soon return to TV, which will welcome her back with open arms.

Shivangi got a lot of Gen Zee love for her last show, Barsatein. The makers will hope they tune into Heartbeats.

Will the makers (Rust Media) use her relationship with Kushal Tandon to make the show viral?

We have always seen Shivangi in traditional outfits, so it is refreshing to change to see her attired in medical scrubs.

We wish Shivangi all the best for new acting sojourn
