By Anil Merani: Sukirti Kandpal is enjoying her stint on the Star Plus show Anupamaa. She plays Anuj’s love interest (Gaurav Khanna). Shruti’s marriage to Anuj cements her place in the DKP production. Her on-screen chemistry with Gaurav is sizzling, showing how good actors both are. So far, she has a positive role and is free from trolling.
But sooner or later, she might have to be ready for stan lashing on social media, for the creative might hark back to Anupamaa and Anuj’s love track. In such a situation, the creative will not keep Shruti positive, for it gets difficult to carry forward a story where no one is at fault. It is easier to paint someone black.
I hope the creative gives good justification for her turning evil. She might turn negative when she tries to harm Anupamaa and her family. She will also make Anuj’s life hell.
Sukirti has been around for years, having done known shows such as Dill Mill Gayye, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani and Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls. She was also part of the ill-fated Story 9 Months Ki, which became a casualty of the Covid – lockdown.
Anupamaa is a major show for Sukirti. Anyone will give an arm and leg to be part of India’s Numero Uno show, so she should be happy even if the character turns negative. We have not learned what they briefed her on when she first signed the show. Having been around, she must have known how the storyboards usually proceed.
But yes, this might harm her prospects of getting a positive lead role in the future, for TV has a habit of typecasting.
