By Anil Merani: Neha Harsora enjoys portraying Sayali Jadhav on the Star Plus show Udne Ki Aasha.
“Our Rahul Kumar Tewary production show has grown organically. Sayali has transformed from a flower-selling girl to a businesswoman. Her personal life has also evolved from being a single girl taking care of her family to becoming a daughter-in-law in a joint family setting.”
Neha explains that the writers and directors make an effort to ensure her character communicates respectfully with her mother-in-law and husband. “She must convey her points without appearing disrespectful, as we aim to present a positive message to young married women. I also found the complexity of Sayali with her brother-in-law (She was to first mary him) intriguing.”
“Maintaining this balance is challenging; I often cross the line, and the director has to reel me back in. Co -star Kanwar Dhillon has it easier in this regard because he can portray his brash Sachin character freely, without facing backlash,” she added.
Neha appreciates how the writers have developed all the characters well. “It’s no surprise that we can add depth to them; otherwise, we would just be reciting lines if they were unsatisfactory. The entire team deserves credit for the sources.”
“I liked how Sayali used her maiden business income to buy a vehicle for her former driver husband Sachin, who had to downgrade to an autorickshaw due to financial struggles. This shows how families support one another,” she remarked.
“What has helped the show is it relatability. we have shown many everyday lower middle-class occurrences (Guest dropping in Electricity failing) which connects us with our core audience” added she
A Gujarati by birth, Neha has learned a lot about Marathi culture through her work on this Mumbai-based show. “Marathi married women always wear the mangal sutra. One autorickshaw driver even gave me a Maharashtrian gift to appreciate my work on the show. I will forever cherish such moments.”
Neha is enjoying her collaboration with Kanwar. “We have become good friends. He gives me a lot of leeway while we’re acting. Whenever I find those romantic scenes challenging, he supports me, saying, ‘Don’t worry; you’ll do it.’ He’s a very fun-loving, laid-back guy. I get along well with all my co-stars,” she added.
Neha, who began her career with Raazz Mahal: Dakini Ka Rahasya (2022) and Fuh se Fantasy (2019)., feels she has grown as an actor. “I am happy to note that my acting, makeup skills, and other abilities have improved.”
However, unlike many other leads, Neha has not allowed success to go to her head. “I will never let my success change me. I have just started and have miles to go before I sleep. I believe it’s essential to focus on doing your work and then going home, as success can evaporate just as quickly.”
Neha, we wish you all the best for the show and your future endeavours!
