By Anil Merani| Shefali Sharma, who plays a mother in the new Zee TV show Sanjog, said getting the maternal feeling was the most challenging part, not being a mother in real life so far ” I am sure this will hold me in good stead when I do have my kids.”
” Talking about her Sanjog character Shefali who has done other shows like( Ishq Da Kalma and Tum Aise Hi Rehna ) says, ” Working women Amrita had been trying to conceive for years before becoming pregnant. But as luck would have it, her baby gets replaced with another infant.”
A typical child change story, we ask? she smiles.
The show also has a standard third-angle plot with Amrita’s hubby, Rajeev ( Rajneesh Duggal ), having a fling with her best friend Rakshita( Sonyaa Ayodhya)
“The best part is that here I get to essay different roles, i.e. a working woman, a wife, and a mother. Typically, daily shows dont show mother-daughter equations, which we explore in toto.”
Shefali is sharing screen space with Kamya Punjabi and Rajneesh Duggal,” And it is great fun working with them. “
Looking ahead, Shefali, who has also done regional movies( Tamil and Punjabi), would want to go beyond the soft-spoken goody good female tv lead and try out a dabang action character. She does not feel that the TV should give up on its saas bahu structure.
“Let’s face it, mother-in-law-daughter in law relationships form the bedrock of most human equations; hence, the audience identifies with them. As for those who want something different, they can always watch the web and cinema.”
