By Anil Merani| Gul Khan’s production Imlie on Star Plus is under the scanner due to low ratings. Any prime-time show on the numero GEC channel that rates below two is considered unsafe
Imlie not only rates 1.9 but also lost its top 5 slot to Pandya Store.
As per the source, the ph has gotten a warning that if the number dont improve, they might shift it to the early evening before pulling it off air.
Imlie, which was doing quite well, seems plagued by lousy luck. First, Gashmeer Mahajani quit for unknown reasons, and when it appeared that Sumbul Touqeer Khan and Fahmaan Khan might repair the damage, both left, not wanting to age as the show was taking a gen leap.
Megha Chakraborty, Seerat Kapoor and Karan Vohra came in as new leads.
Interestingly Imlie’s rating has stayed (averagely) within what Sumbul and Fahmaan were getting, yet the channel has issued a warning.
Should the channel not have shut the show with Fahmaan and Sumbul instead of going through a new casting process and then pulling the plug in an instant
New jodis need two or three months to settle down, but TRP wars do not afford such luxuries.
Gul ‘s shows tend to shut down in a huff due to cast changes. Remember Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and Ishqbaaz
Gashmeer has gone on to do a web series and will do big ticket Colors show. Sumbul is on Bigg Boss, while Fahmaan might do an Ekta Kapoor show.
We got in touch with Seerat, who refused to talk on the matter
Our messages to Star Plus and Gul went unanswered.
